Costco Sets Opening Date For New Sarasota County Store

NORTH PORT, FL — The second Costco warehouse club in Sarasota County is opening soon in North Port.

The 157,000-square-foot members-only store at 11700 Mezzo Drive will celebrate its grand opening June 5 in Wellen Park, a master-planned community.

A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place that day at 7:30 a.m., according to the North Port Chamber of Commerce.

The Wellen Park area, which is divided into three districts — West Villages, Downtown Wellen and Playmore — has about 9,500 residents with about 50,000 expected when the development’s 22,500 homes are completed.

Other shops, restaurants and businesses in the community include Publix, Oak & Stone, Bocca Lupo, Ace Hardware, Chase and HCA Florida Emergency Center. It’s also home to The Yard, a culinary destination built from repurposed shipping containers.

The new Costco is located near U.S. 41, east of West Villages Parkway.

It will be open Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.; Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The first Costco built in Sarasota County is located at the Sarasota Square Mall. There’s also a location in Manatee County on State Road 64 off Interstate 75.
