Sarasota Mayor Will Marry Couple At First Friday Event, Wedding Applications Accepted
Apply by Wednesday to be married by Sarasota's Mayor Erik Arroyo at the Feb. 4 First Friday event, the city said.
SARASOTA, FL — One lucky couple will be married by Sarasota’s mayor at the Feb. 4 “Love is in the Air” First Friday event at Five Points Park.
Couples are invited to apply for the chance to be married by or renew their wedding vows with Mayor Erik Arroyo, the city said in a news release.
In addition to the public ceremony, the couple selected will also get complimentary wedding support from downtown merchants, including jewelry, hair and makeup, wardrobe, and a private reception for friends and family.

Couples interested should email freshfridays@next-mark.com with their names, a brief introduction and why they think they should be chosen to get married at Five Points Park. The deadline is Wednesday.
“When you think of New Year’s celebrations in Times Square, where all the couples are celebrating their love in front of the whole world, it’s just a magical moment we wanted to recreate the Sarasota way, because nothing says, ‘I love you’ like saying it in public,” Joseph Grano, Next-Mark’s president, said.

Like previous First Fridays, the Feb. 4 event will feature free signature party favors, free light bites, free roses for the first 500 guests, free entertainment and the opportunity to enjoy an adult beverage al fresco, the city said.
