Starting Monday, Kids 5-11 Can Get The COVID-19 Vaccine From Sarasota Department Of Health

The Department of Health in Sarasota will offer the COVID-19 vaccine to children ages 5-11 in Sarasota, North Port starting Monday.

SARASOTA COUNTY, FL — Starting Monday, children ages 5 to 11 can start getting the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine through the Department of Health in Sarasota County.

The vaccine will be available at the health departments downtown Sarasota location at 2200 Ringling Blvd. and its North Port location at 6950 Outreach Way, the DOH said in a news release.

DOH-Sarasota operates no-appointment, walk-in COVID 19 vaccination clinics at both sites and offer all authorized doses of Moderna, Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

Federal health officials have gave the go-ahead to COVID-19 vaccinations for Florida children ages 5 to 11 more than a week ago.

The CDC authorization for younger children makes more than 1.6 million Florida kids immediately eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine.

DOH-Sarasota said the vaccine can also be found through their medical provider, local retail pharmacies or at vaccines.gov.

Appointments are available at select Walgreens, CVS and Publix locations.
