SUV Driver Dies After Crashing Into Semi-Trailer Truck On U.S. 41: Sarasota Police
A woman died after her SUV crashed into the back of a semi-trailer truck at U.S. 41 and University Parkway Monday, Sarasota police said.

SARASOTA, FL — A woman died after crashing her SUV into the back of a semi-trailer truck on North Tamiami Trail/U.S. 41 Monday afternoon, according to a news release from Sarasota police.
The accident happened just before 5 p.m. near the intersection of University Parkway.

The SUV driver was heading southbound on U.S. 41 at the time of the crash, police said. She died at the scene.
The man driving the truck remained at the scene and cooperated with officers.

The crash shut down the intersection for several hours Monday evening. The investigation by the Sarasota Police Department’s Traffic Unit is ongoing.
It’s unknown whether drugs or alcohol played a factor in the accident, police said.
