Crave Hot Dogs & BBQ Opens in Venice
A new fast-casual barbecue and hot dog restaurant has opened in Venice. The Crave Hot Dogs & BBQ chain has opened a location at 1693 U.S. 41 Bypass South in Jacaranda Plaza, according to RestaurantNews.com.

The family-friendly eatery offers more than 20 toppings for hot dogs, as well as a full barbecue menu featuring pulled chicken and pork, hot and mild sausages, and smoked brisket.
Candy Shop Opens on St. Armands Circle

River Street Sweets Savannah’s Candy Kitchen has opened on St. Armands Circle, the Observer Media Group reported.
“We’re known for our pralines. We’re the largest praline manufacturer in the country,” owner Tim Strickland said. “We’re from the New Orleans/Baton Rouge area, so that’s why we have that kindred spirit with the praline.”
The shop also sells other candies and fresh-churned ice cream.
2 Restaurant Chains Under Construction in Lakewood Ranch
Two restaurant chains — Lake Park Diner and Crisp & Green — are the latest eateries announced at Lakewood Ranch’s new Center Point development, according to the Bradenton Herald.
Lake Park Diner is a diner with an emphasis on sustainable, organic and healthy menu offerings, while Crisp & Green serves salads, grain bowls and smoothies.
New American Grill Opens in Manatee County
A new American grill known for its seafood and craft cocktails has opened in Manatee County. The Blue Surf American Grill moved in the space previously occupied by CB’s Pizza & Grill and Popi’s Place in East Bradenton
“We decided to open during a slow period, get our feet wet while establishing who we are, and the response has been very strong and growing,” owner Ira Freedman told the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. “When we saw the space (3800 square feet) situated between Bradenton and Lakewood Ranch, we felt it was a great location.”
Sarasota-Manatee Originals Brings Back the “Set the Bar” Competition
The Sarasota-Manatee Originals has revived its “Set the Bar” competition, which will take place Oct. 23. The competition showcases the talents of mixologists in the region from Anna Maria Island to Venice Beach, according to the website. An expert panel will determine “the Best” libations served during the competition.

New McDonald’s Opening in Lakewood Ranch
A new McDonald’s franchise will open Wednesday in Lakewood Ranch, the Observer Media Group reported. The location on University Parkway, just east of Lakewood Ranch Boulevard, is the 10th owned by couple Sergio and Amy Rodriguez.
