
SARASOTA, FL – The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of Dartmouth College swimmer Saturday.
According to the agency, Tate Ramsden, 21, drown in the outside pool of the YMCA’s Shelby Aquatic Center on Potter Park Avenue around 2 p.m.
Ramsden is from Nashville, Tenn., and was a member of Dartmouth’s men’s swimming and diving team, according to a letter posted by Phil Hanlon, Dartmouth’s president, on the college’s website. Ramsden, a member of the Beta Alpha Omega fraternity, was in Sarasota celebrating the holidays with family, Hanlon noted.

“We have been in touch with Tate’s family to share our deepest sympathies with them at this time of heartbreaking loss,” Hanlon wrote.
Ramsden’s death remains under investigation, the sheriff’s office said.
