David Cassidy in Trouble Again
The former teen heartthrob has been charged in a Fort Lauderdale hit-and-run.
A former child star whose image graced the walls of many a teenage girl’s bedroom in the 1970s is making headlines once again.
The news about ”Partridge Family” cast member David Cassidy isn’t likely to be music to long-time fans’ ears though. It seems the now 65-year-old Fort Lauderdale resident has run afoul of the law after being accused of driving erratically on Interstate 595, sideswiping a truck and fleeing the scene.
Cassidy was charged after witnesses to the Sept. 9 crash picked his mug out of a photo lineup. He’s since been charged with leaving a scene of an accident, driving on an expired tag, making an improper lane change and driving on a suspended license.

According to court records, he’s set for an arraignment in Broward County court on Oct. 27.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the accident happened on westbound I-595 when a Kia Sportage, traveling at a high rate of speed, changed lanes and struck an International delivery truck. The driver suffered minor injuries. Cassidy is accused of getting out of his Kia, trying to cover the tag and then leaving the scene.

A cellphone camera shot of the tag led officers to Cassidy’s location and the photo lineup confirmation sealed the charges, several media outlets have reported.
The Sept. 9 incident isn’t Cassidy’s first bush with the law. He was charged in a March 2014 DUI in Los Angeles and sentenced to five years’ probation. In addition, he was convicted on a DUI charge back in 2010 in St. Lucie County and was also charged in an August 2013 DUI in New York.
