Debut concert of Voices ensemble celebrates Randall Thompson

Musica Sacra Cantorum will debut its professional Voices ensemble in a performance at the Church of the Redeemer

Musica Sacra Cantorum, dedicated to performing and promoting sacred choral music in the Sarasota-Bradenton area, will debut its professional Voices ensemble in a performance at the Church of the Redeemer, 222 S. Palm Ave., Sarasota, at 7 p.m. Mon., Nov. 3. The concert will be a retrospective performance of the works of Randall Thompson, one of the most influential American composers of the 20th century.

The retrospective will include some of the composer’s most-loved works: The Peaceable Kingdom, Alleluia and The Last Invocation. Works like Alleluia have become staples of the American a cappella choral tradition.

The Voices ensemble is an all-professional group assembled through a rigorous audition process, and features some of the region’s best singing voices. Musica Sacra Cantorum offers concerts known for their ambitious programming, as well as seminars and lectures.
