Details Emerge Family Inn Shooting
An 18-year-old suffered life-threatening injuries while another man is in custody.
The Sarasota Police Department has charged an 18-year-old man in a shooting that occurred at the Family Inn on Saturday.
According to the department, Devontae H. Robinson, 18, has been charged with attempted murder and tampering with evidence as a result of the shooting. The incident itself occurred around 3:30 p.m. at the 4807 N. Tamiami Trail hotel.
Police say Quenton Spears, 18, was visiting the inn when he was shot by Robinson. The relationship between the two is unknown at this time, an email from the police department to media stated. Police say Spears suffered life-threatening injuries and remained at Sarasota Memorial Hospital Monday.

The gun used in the shooting was found by a witness and placed into evidence.

Robinson is expected to have a first appearance before a judge Monday afternoon.
