Dive Team Removes Boat That Sunk During Hurricane: Sarasota Police
The owner of a derelict boat abandoned after it sunk in Sarasota Bay during Hurricane Ian faces charges, police said.
SARASOTA, FL — The Sarasota Police Department Dive Team recently spent a morning removing a derelict boat from Sarasota Bay, just west of Harbor Acres, the agency posted on its Facebook page.
The owner abandoned the vessel, which sunk during Hurricane Ian and became a marine hazard, according to SPD. “It was a priority to have it removed.”
The boat’s owner now faces criminal and civil charges, police said.
