Driver Arrested in Fatal Hit and Run
Police have arrested 38-year-old Darden Nicks in connection with the hit and run. Nicks was also charged with possession of narcotics and narcotic paraphernalia.
Sarasota Police have arrested 38-year-old Darden Nicks in connection with a fatal hit and run that happened last night.
On Oct. 17 at 9:30 p.m., police said the victim was crossing the westbound lanes of the 3400 block of Fruitville road when a box-type truck struck him. The truck drove away.
According to police, the pedestrian was not crossing at an intersection or crosswalk. Police said victim died at the scene.

The pedestrian has been identified, but police said his name would be released only after his family has been notified. He is a 57-year old, white male.
Nicks was also charged with possession of narcotics and narcotic paraphernalia.
