Driver Crashes Into Tree, Dies After Medical Episode: FL Troopers

SARASOTA, FL — A Miami man died Monday afternoon after suffering a medical episode and crashing his SUV into a tree in Sarasota, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

The 58-year-old was traveling south of Tamworth Parkway, north of Proctor Road, when he lost control of his SUV just after 3 p.m.

He drove off the road to the right and hit a small tree, FHP said. He wasn’t wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.
