Driver Thrown From Car Dies In Sarasota County Crash: FL Troopers

A 24-year-old Avon Park man died after being thrown from his car during an early Sunday morning crash in Sarasota County, FHP said.

SARASOTA COUNTY, FL — A 24-year-old Avon Park man died after being thrown from his car during an early Sunday morning crash in Sarasota County, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

He was driving east on Clark Road, approaching Catamaran Drive, at the time of the crash around 2:30 a.m.

At the same time, a Jeep was traveling ahead of him on Clark Road. As it slowed down, the car hit the back of the Jeep, FHP said.

The car drove off the road and hit a street light and fence before the driver was thrown from it. He was pronounced dead at the scene, the agency said.

The Jeep’s driver, a 26-year-old Bradenton man, was uninjured in the crash. His passenger, a 25-year-old Sarasota woman, suffered minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
