DUI Arrests Made; Hundreds Of Warnings, Tickets Issued: Tampa Police
The Tampa Police Department made 1,724 traffic stops over Memorial Day weekend and issued hundreds of traffic warnings and citations.
TAMPA, FL — There were 40 driving under the influence arrests made, as well as hundreds of traffic warnings and citations issued over Memorial Day weekend, the Tampa Police Department shared in a Facebook post.
Over the holiday weekend, patrol units made 1,724 traffic stops. This resulted in the 40 arrests, 1,129 traffic warnings, 595 traffic citations and 10 recovered firearms, the department said.
“It was a busy Memorial Day Weekend throughout the city. With assistance from local agencies, our officers were able to remove impaired drivers from our roadways and keep our city safe,” according to TPD. “We'd like to thank all of our residents and visitors who celebrated responsibly.”

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office was also busy over the weekend, releasing its DUI and boating under the influence numbers.
During patrols on Saturday and Sunday, 367 traffic stops resulted in 34 citations and 333 warnings issued to motorists, as well as 38 people arrested for driving under the influence.

The HCSO Marine Unit also made 17 vessel stops, resulting in 26 written warnings and 10 citations, as well as two boating under the influence arrests, the agency said.
