DUI Driver Hits, Kills Pedestrian In Sarasota: FL Highway Patrol

SARASOTA, FL — A driver suspected of driving under the influence hit and killed a pedestrian in Sarasota Monday night, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.

Douglas Cisler, 59, of Sarasota was charged with a DUI and booked into Sarasota County Jail.

The crash, which remains under investigation, happened around 7 p.m.

Cisler, driving a pickup truck, was heading east on Clark Road in the inside lane, west of Derek Road at the same time a 66-year-old Sarasota man was crossing Clark Road, FHP said.

The truck hit the pedestrian as he crossed the road and walked in front of the approaching vehicle, the agency said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
