
Motorists who frequent Sarasota Countyās roads will want to take extra care behind the wheel this weekend.
The Florida Highway Patrol has announced it will conduct a DUI Wolfpack Detail starting at 10 p.m. Friday and finishing up around 6 a.m. Saturday.
āFHP sets up such details to proactively remove impaired drivers from the roadways and ultimately enhance the safety of the motoring public,ā an email from the patrol to media stated. āTroopers conducting the detail will be mobile, monitoring traffic, in an effort to maximize their visibility and effectiveness in removing impaired drivers from the roadways in Sarasota County, Florida.ā

Details such as Fridayās are conducted to help make sure that drivers impaired by drugs or alcohol are removed from local roads. The state considers adults motorists with a .08 blood alcohol content or higher impaired. Drivers under 21 are considered impaired with a BAC of .02 or higher.
Motorists who encounter impaired or aggressive drivers on the roadways can call *FHP from their cellphones to report dangerous driving activity to troopers.

Troopers have not said what particular roads in Sarasota County they intend to target.
