While Florida is a closed primary state, where voters registered with a political party nominate their preferred candidate in various elections, the Aug. 23 primary ballot also includes nonpartisan races — including school board, Sarasota County Hospital Board and local cities.

In these nonpartisan races, all voters, regardless of party affiliation, can vote. Request a copy of your sample ballot here.
