Wisdom—and the comfort such wisdom can bring—can come from surprising channels. While channeling discorporate beings is an accepted Spiritualist practice, it’s not a particularly common one. It’s more surprising yet for non-spiritualists. But believe or not, there is still great wisdom to be found here.
The Sarasota Center of Light is hosting transdimensional channelist Karen Cook of Albuquerque, New Mexico for the 13th straight year Saturday and Sunday March 3 and 4th.

Karen has been channeling the energy of Benu, the Archangel Gabriel, since her childhood (not quite the imaginary friend the rest of us had!). Karen allows Benu to bring his energy and persona forth through her body so that we experience his energy firsthand in human form. Benu is here to bring the energy of unconditional love back into our lives with wisdom and great humor.

“I went to both workshops last year with some skepticism,” said Kim Northrop, church member. “While I still have reservations the workshops were very, very interesting and the depth of knowledge staggering. The questions from the audience were also quite interesting. And the presence channeled by Karen—formidable. And funny! If you are interested at all in the metaphysical you will find these workshops worthwhile.”
Due to the increased demand, Karen and Benu will be giving two workshops this year. The first on Saturday March 3rd focuses on “Tools for Overcoming Fear in Challenging Times.” The topic for the second workshop on Sunday March 4th is “The Architecture of the Universe.” The workshops are 3 hours in length with the first 1 ½ hours of Benu’s teachings and the last 1 ½ hours set aside for Benu to answer questions of the audience.
“Spiritualism is founded on the idea of bringing peace and comfort by demonstrating the continuity of life,” said Rev. Tom Newman, the executive director of the Center of Light. “Benu’s workshops always give me a glimpse of the vast resevoir of intelligence in the universe and the magnificent, intricate plan. I find these things to be humbling and exciting—and comforting—all at the same time.”
