Kate Lowman’s recent work continues her focus on building images from found objects, using photography to capture object, texture and light. Taking scenes from everyday reality, Lowman uses digital technology to transmute her photographs – isolating and building on the initial form and color that caught her interest. Considering herself both printmaker and photographer, the end product is a pigment ink print on matte fine art paper – much akin to traditional print making. Each work is based on several photographs, but contains multiple pieces, ranging from just a few to many. The final print melds those pieces into a single photograph. New work is on display at the Hodgell Gallery.
