With more than 50 world-class dancers on stage, the Grigorovich Ballet’s performance features the unrivaled talents of a troupe of Russia’s finest dancers under the direction of the company’s founder, a living legend who for more than a half century has established the benchmark for balletic artistry and skill. Regarded by many as the 20th century’s most respected choreographer and director, Grigorovich has garnered accolades and critical plaudits worldwide and his works have dominated the classical ballet repertoire. He is the recipient of prestigious international awards, prizes and distinctions from more than 50 countries. Even in his mid-80s, Grigorovich shows no signs of slowing down, maintaining the creativity, exacting standards and peerless eye for detail that have become his trademarks.

The principal dancers expected to be performing in Grigorovich Ballet’s American tour include Alexandra Sivtsova, Tatiana Vladimirova, Anna Zhukova and Vladimir Morozov.

Legends of Russian Ballet is a carefully crafted “highlights” program compiled for the first time exclusively for the Grigorovich Ballet’s 2012 United States tour, featuring some of the best-loved dances in the classical ballet repertoire, choreographed by Yuri Grigorovich and performed by the peerless members of the Grigorovich Ballet. Combining the most dramatic, romantic and thrilling moments in ballet, the program includes dances from such time-honored works as Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty, Scheherazade, Don Quixote, and Spring Water, performed to the glorious music of Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov and Rachmaninov, among others. This unique program, geared to aficionados and dance newcomers alike, is sure to be a real crowd pleaser.
