Crawford's artwork explores our connection with the natural and magical worlds through abstracted imagery and color. The artist paints in multicolored layers, using layering and the scratching through of paint as a metaphor for the life cycles of laying down something new, covering it over, and breaking through, or transformation.
Juxtaposing abstracted images of trees, windows, suns, leaves, hearts and angels wings, the artist explains, "I have always been interested in that which cannot be readily seen. My hope is that my paintings catch the essence of being, the magic of creation and the splendor and energetic intelligence of the universe. I offer my work as a joyous expression of creation and perhaps as an alternative approach to viewing our world."
