Facebook Marketplace Used By Robber To Lure Victims: North Port Police
Woman charged after holding victims she met using Facebook Marketplace at gunpoint and robbing them, the North Port Police Department said.

NORTH PORT, FL — A suspect robbed victims she met after posting a car for sale on Facebook Marketplace, North Port Police Department wrote in a Facebook post.
Cly’etavia Ashonna Lee, 21, of Sarasota is charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault and using a phone to facilitate a felony.
This past weekend, Lee met two different victims who wanted to purchase the car in the 5200 block of South Biscayne Boulevard, police said.

Once the victims arrived, Lee held them up at gunpoint and took thousands in cash, including credit cards. She later tried to use the credit cards at various locations.
Following an investigation, she was arrested Tuesday night in Sarasota with help from the Sarasota Police Department.

“While incidents such as this are rare, this is a reminder for folks to be cautious about conducting transactions with those they do not know,” police said. “Thankfully, this case was solved with the help of video evidence. Please conduct these types of transactions in well-lit, video-monitored locations. In addition, NPPD has an e-commerce area in front of our police department for a safer transaction location.”
Lee is being held in the Sarasota County Jail with no bond.
