Felon Found With Gun During Arrest: Sarasota Police
A Sarasota felon was arrested on an active warrant for domestic battery, police said. They also found a gun on him after pulling him over.

SARASOTA, FL — A Florida felon was arrested and faces new charges after being pulled over early Monday morning for a traffic stop in Sarasota, authorities said.
Javaris Williams, 42, of Sarasota has nine previous felony convictions in the state of Florida, according to a news release from Sarasota police.
His new charges include possession of a firearm by a convicted felony and carrying a concealed firearm — both felonies — and resisting an officer without violence, a misdemeanor.

Officers saw Williams get into a vehicle at 2000 N. Washington Blvd. just after 1 a.m. Knowing he had an active warrant for domestic battery, they pulled him over at the intersection of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Way and Pershing Avenue, police said.
As they took him into custody, he tried to run away from officers, but he was arrested.

While searching Williams, officers found a loaded 9mm handgun with a round in the chamber, police said. The gun had a magazine with 11 rounds loaded as well, and there was another magazine with 10 rounds in a black bag in the car.
He was arrested and brought to the Sarasota County Jail, where he was being held on a $32,000 bond. He has since bonded out of jail, police said.
