October 9, 7 pm - 9:30 pm Fogartyville Community Media and Arts Center 525 Kumquat Ct Sarasota

Under the banner of “the best documentaries you probably haven’t seen yet,” we regularly screen films on a wide variety of topics related to Transition. Each film is typically followed by a speaker, group discussion, or other activity that connects the film’s topic back to what we can do about it locally.

Having found themselves living in “food deserts,” without access to healthy, fresh produce, dedicated citizens are now reclaiming their power by growing food for themselves and their neighbors.
And what they are doing not only has the potential to transform Detroit. Their story also serves as a hopeful example of what a truly sustainable, post-industrial economy might look like for all of us.
