SARASOTA, FL — Cities and counties across the country continue to bring back many of the traditional Independence Day activities that were either canceled or modified the last two years. July 4 is just around the corner, so it's time to find out what Fourth of July fireworks and festivities are going on near you in 2022.

What: Firecracker 5K

Where: North Port High School, 6400 West Price Blvd., North Port

When: July 4, check-in at 6 a.m., race begins at 7:30 a.m.

Registration for this annual 5K run is $35 for those 14 and older and $15 for those younger than 14 through July 1.


What: Freedom Festival

Where: CoolToday Park, 18800 W. Villages Parkway, North Port

When: July 4, 5 to 9:30 p.m.

This family-friendly event hosted by the city of North Port includes fun activities, vendors, food options, live music and fireworks.


What: Siesta Key 4th of July Celebration

Where: Siesta Public Beach, 948 Beach Road, Siesta Key

When: July 4, viewing areas open at 6 p.m.; fireworks display at dusk

The Siesta Key Chamber of Commerce hosts its 31st annual 4th of July Celebration. Sponsorships of $500 or more include seating in the preferred viewing area, parking, and complimentary beverages and snacks.


What: Bayfront Fireworks Spectacular

Where: Bayfront Park and Marina/Island Park, Sarasota

When: July 4, 9 to 9:30 p.m.

Celebrate the Fourth of July holiday by watching a fireworks display over Sarasota Bay. This event is organized by Suncoast Charities for Children in partnership with Marina Jack and produced by Pyrotecnico. What: July 4 Fireworks Show

Where: Humphris Park, 2000 Tarpon Center Drive, Venice

When: July 4, 9 to 9:30 p.m.

Fireworks will be shot off from the South Jetty at Humphris Park. The display can be viewed on area beaches from Caspersen to Nokomis.


What: Tee It Up for the Troops

Where: Plantation Golf & Country Club, 500 Rockley Blvd., Venice

When: July 4

This fundraising golf event raises money for partnering veterans support organizations that work in the areas of housing and homelessness, family and caregiver support, PTSD and traumatic brain injury treatment, suicide prevention, golf and sports rehabilitation, and employment.
