First Sarasota Church to welcome Tim Tebow during Good Friday event
Free community-wide event, 'Good Friday in Payne Park,' to feature famous football star, Good Friday service, Easter egg hunt, food and more
On Good Friday, April 18, First Sarasota – The Downtown Baptist Church will present the second annual “Good Friday in Payne Park” event. Free and open to the public, the event will feature an appearance by famous football star Tim Tebow, an inspirational Good Friday service, food stations, a massive Easter egg hunt, inflatables and face painting for kids, live music, and more.
Last year’s event, which featured world-famous “King of the High Wire” Nik Wallenda, drew thousands to Payne Park in downtown Sarasota.
“For over a century, our church has been sharing Jesus in our beautiful city and beyond. We’re thrilled to have the opportunity again this year to have a Good Friday gathering in Payne Park, right in downtown Sarasota!” said Senior Pastor Dr. John Cross. “Easter's message of God's love is truly Good News, and we're committed to sharing it with as many as possible!”

Tim Tebow is a two-time national champion, Heisman Trophy winner, College Football Hall of Fame inductee, first-round NFL draft pick, and a former professional baseball player. The five-time New York Times best-selling author, speaker, and college football analyst is most passionate about his work with the Tim Tebow Foundation, whose mission is to bring faith, hope, and love to those needing a brighter day in their darkest hour of need. The foundation is currently fighting for some of the most vulnerable people around the world in more than 90 countries.
The timeline for the event is as follows:- 5:30 p.m.: free food, inflatables, face painting
- 6:15 p.m.: Easter egg hunts
- 7 p.m.: Good Friday Service featuring Tim Tebow
Takes place on Friday, April 18, 5:30-8:30 p.m., in Payne Park (2010 Adams Lane, Sarasota). Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and arrive early to secure a spot on the lawn for the service and remarks by Tebow. Free and open to the public.
