FL Man Threatened To Shoot Students In Pokemon Go Forum: Police

A Boca Raton man threatened a mass shooting in a Discord forum for Pokemon Go, Palm Beach County Schools Police said.

PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL — A Boca Raton man faces charges after threatening a mass shooting at a Palm Beach County middle school while posting in a Discord forum for discussing the game Pokemon Go.

Fernando Gaete, 23, was arrested By Palm Beach County Schools police Thursday and charged with making written threats to conduct a mass shooting or terrorism act, according to the probable cause affidavit.

“I Dominic Valentine vow to shoot up Loggers Run Middle School on Monday morning gonna shoot 6 students,” Gaete posted under the username “paulallen0270#0.”

He is a former student of the school, investigators learned. It's not clear why he used either name — Paul Allen or Dominic Valentine — in the forum.

Gaete, who confessed to making the threat, told police that he made the post because he “was very angry.”

The suspect’s father, who he lives with, told police that they have weapons secured in a safe at their home.
