Florida's Vern Buchanan 9th Richest in Congress, Study Finds

U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan, R-Long Boat Key, is one of the 10 wealthiest members of Congress according to Roll Call’s new Wealth of Congress Index.

Buchanan, whose net worth is estimated at $49.86 million, ranks as the ninth wealthiest member of Congress. Buchanan’s wealth, Roll Call notes, “is largely derived from two car dealerships.” He also has holdings in two airline and yacht leasing businesses and owns a number of rental properties, among other investments.

Buchanan, a five-term Republican, ranked No. 11 on last year’s list. He was in the Top 10 in 2011, as well.
