The Fountains at Lake Pointe Woods celebrates the Joys of Ramadan

Local retirement community learns about the Islamic Holy Month during Watermark University class

Residents at The Fountains at Lake Pointe Woods, an independent and assisted living community in Sarasota, recently learned about the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

The community invited members of The Islamic Society of Sarasota Bradenton to share their culture with residents. Discussions about how they continue to work and manage their domestic responsibilities during the hours of fasting, while reaping spiritual rewards and the strong focus on helping the less fortunate. Residents asked questions and were treated to watermelon, which is a traditional food used to break the fast.

The class was a part of The Fountain’s internal program called Watermark University, which provides classes and connections around the seven dimensions of wellness – spiritual, emotional, vocational, physical, social, environmental, and intellectual.
