CAPE CORAL, FL — A Cape Coral roofing company has a unique Thanksgiving special in place — everyone who gets a new roof in November will receive a free assault rifle and a turkey.

Roof EZ said that for every roof sold, they’ll get an AR-15 from Shoot Center in Cape Coral.

In a video shared by the company on social media, a Shoot Center employee said anyone taking advantage of the offer needs to be 21 or older and able to pass a background check.

“We’re going to make it super super super easy,” the employee said.

The roofing company indicated that social media companies were removing their posts about the deal.

“Facebook keeps taking down our post! Pew Pew Promotion is still going on,” Roof EZ wrote in a Facebook post.

The company received both flack and praise from social media users about the deal.

“Reckless idea/promotion. Remember karma,” one user commented.

Another user commented, “18 dead in Maine from an AR. Great idea.”

“So you’re telling me an A.R. 15 got up and walked somewhere and shot somebody or did a person carry it and do that themselves?” the company responded.

One user wrote, “Wish I could have got that deal when I got my roof!”

In response, Roof EZ created a new T-shirt available for sale. It features silhouettes of the state of Florida, an assault rifle and a turkey, and reads, “Roof EZ: Where We Make It Easy.”

“We will have new shirts for sale for everyone wanting to support but not located in our area of service,” the company wrote.
