Free Second Sundays At Sarasota Art Museum Continue Through 2022

The community can enjoy Ringling College's Sarasota Art Museum for free on the second Sunday of every month in 2022.

SARASOTA, FL — The Sarasota Art Museum of Ringling College of Art and Design will continue its monthly free museum admission day on the second Sunday of each month.

The initiative is funded through the support of the Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation, according to a news release from the museum.

The remaining second Sunday dates in 2022 are: Feb. 13, March 13, April 10, May 8, June 12, July 10, Aug. 14, Sept. 11, Oct. 9, Nov. 13 and Dec. 11.

This free monthly admission series offers greater access to the arts for Sarasota community members and their families, SAM said.

In addition to access to all exhibitions, additional programming includes:

  • Musical Interludes on the Marcy & Michael Klein Plaza
  • Mary’s Front Porch storytelling performance for all ages
  • ‘What’s Your Medium?’, an intergenerational art activity for discovering various creative mediums
  • Ringling College Studio + Digital Arts Free Studio Day Activities.

“We cherish and value the sustained support of the Barancik Foundation in helping to make art accessible to all families and individuals in our community by underwriting programming to drive engaging and enriching experiences at the Museum,” Dr. Larry R. Thompson, president of Ringling College of Art and Design, said.

Virginia Shearer, executive director of Sarasota Art Museum, added, “The ability to open our doors to the entire Sarasota community and provide interactive, enriching experiences for all fulfills a key part of our mission of being a visual arts education center with a museum at its heart.”
