Frugal Family: Cheap Places to Take the Kids on President's Day

Deals and inexpensive events for the family this President's Day weekend.

This column will be devoted to catching the best deals every week with local businesses in Sarasota. This week Sarasota Patch gives you some President's Day weekends deals and cheap activities to look out for. 

1. Sarasota Succulent Society (The Sparkman House), 1310 38th Street Sarasota 

Deal: On Saturday, Feb. 19  Horticulturalist David Uggucione is the presenter. There are discounted and bargain prices for any succulent plants. The sale runs from 9 am to 1 pm. You can also tour the grounds.

2. Livingstons Amusement Center, 5947 Clark Center Avenue. Sarasota, 

Deal: Buy two and Get one free game play credits. Buy two tickets for Go-Karts or Phazer Zone Extreme or one of each and recieve $10.00 in free arcade credits.

3. Water Ski Show, 1708 Ken Thompson Parkway 

Deal: Free admission to this family friendly event on Saturday. The event is at 1:30pm from City Island's Ski-A-Rees Stadium. 

4. Save Our Seabirds, 1708 Ken Thompson Parkway 

Deal: Free admission. Come out to Save Our Seabirds and enjoy many wild birds including Pelicans, Owls, Parrots, Ospreys and more. To view the animals is free, but a small donation is requested. Great place to take the children during their day off for President's Day. 

5. G.Wiz Kids Day at the Museum, 1001 Boulevard of the Arts

Deal: For $49 you kids will will spend the day with one of of the museum's certified educators and explore subjects from Space to Oceans and Caves to Bridges.
