Great deals on fresh seafood and meat in Sarasota supermarkets.

We all know the rising cost of groceries makes providing quality meals for your family a challenge. This week Frugal Family looked at special deals from your neighborhood grocery stores and suggests some ideas you may not have time to think of to save money. This week, we found several deals for fresh meat and seafood that you can take advantage of.
Tip: When I see Buy 1 Get 1 Free deals for meat, I get the extra package and freeze it. I have also used freezer bags, labeled the item with the date it was bought so that I can use these in a different recipe later.
1. Publix Supermarket has several deals this week. Fresh Catfish Filet is on sale at $5.99 a pound (usually $8.99 per pound) and swordfish steaks, deboned and skinless, are on sale for $8.99. Boneless Pork Loin Ribs are on sale for $2.99 per pound. Perdue Fit ‘N Easy Chicken Breasts are priced at $2.99 per pound. Bantra May Mussels Buy 1 Get 1 Free at $4.99 for one box. Total potential savings $20. The items in this week’s circular are good until February 23. On Wednesday, the new circular for the coming week will offer different specials.

2. Sweetbay Supermarkets
Deals: Chicken Thighs or Drumsticks are Buy 1 Get 1 Free at $1.79 per pound. Buy one package, freeze the others. I use different marinades or will fry one package and then grill the other using a marinade. Other deals are Whole Boneless Pork Loin, Smithfield brand, priced at $1.99 from $3.49. Fresh seafood this week at a discount includes Haddock, which is usually $9.99 per pound to $4.99. You can also buy tickets for the Florida Strawberry Festival through March 13th for $8 and $4. Regular admission prices are $10 and $5.

3. This past week, Winn Dixie offered several buy 1 get 1 free deals for on three types of meat. I bought three packages of each and froze one of each. The new circular will be out today, February 23, check in the stores or online for the new specials.
4. Super Target
Deals: Gold’n Plump fresh ground chicken is $2.99 per pound. This product is 90% fat free and is a good alternative to substitute in recipes that call for beef, like tacos and even burgers. Hormel boneless center cut pork chops are $3.49. Market Pantry (Target brand) chicken breast is priced at $3.99 per pound. This week, Target is even offering a $5 Gift Card to anyone who buys seven or more frozen items that start as low as $2.50 So, if you are picking up your meat, don’t forget the frozen vegetables and snacks and you will get a $5 reward.
