Gov. Rick Scott Named Donald Trump Super PAC Chair
Florida Gov. Rick Scott has been named the national chairman for Rebuilding America Now, a pro-Donald Trump Super PAC.

MIAMI, FL — As Republican Presidential hopeful Donald Trump leads Democrat Hillary Clinton in the polls, Florida’s top politician has stepped forward to help earn a GOP victory in November. Gov. Rick Scott has been named the national chairman of Rebuilding America Now, a pro-Trump Super PAC.
“It’s time for us to fire the politicians,” Scott said in a Wednesday statement announcing the appointment. “That’s what this election is all about, and that’s why I am excited to chair the Rebuilding America Now Super PAC to help Donald Trump.”
Rebuilding America Now claims to be “dedicated to showing Americans the truth about Hillary Clinton and her real record,” according to its website. The Super PAC invites people to “join the resistance” and is reportedly spending more than $2.2 million this week – during the Democratic National Convention – to run television attack ads.

The PAC has put its primary focus on the country’s three battleground states, including Florida, according to Politico. Its biggest ad spends have been in Florida, Ohio and Philadelphia, according to the website.
Scott has been touting the need for Republicans to back Trump since the Florida Primary when it became clear others on the ticket likely would fail in their bids to topple the New York businessman. His name was even rumored to have been among those under consideration for Trump's running mate pick until the announcement of Indiana Gov. Mike Pence.

“I’ve known Donald for about 20 years, long before either of us ever ran for office,” Scott said in the statement. “He is a businessman and an outsider and he will bring the major change to Washington that our country needs right now.”
Clinton trailed Trump in a poll released Wednesday 47 to 40.4 percent, according to the New York Post. RealClearPolitics, however, shows Trump ahead only by a slight margin at 45.6 percent to Clinton’s 44.7.
Voters will make the ultimate decision when they report to the polls Nov. 8.
