SARASOTA, FL — A housekeeper faces charges after stealing jewelry from the Sarasota home where she worked and pawning it, according to a Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Stephanie Jacques, 40, of Ruskin was charged with eight felony counts, including dealing in stolen property, false ownership and grand theft.

A Sarasota resident told deputies that several items of men’s and women’s jewelry were missing from her home after leaving her housekeeper, Jacques, there alone, the sheriff’s office said.

While reviewing pawn shop databases, deputies saw a number of transactions made by Jacques. The items were later identified by the owner and other pawned items were connected to additional reports of theft in the area.

She was arrested and taken into custody Aug. 11 by SCSO. The investigation is ongoing.
