Human Remains Found In Missing Woman’s Car In North Port: Police

NORTH PORT, FL — Human remains were found inside a missing Port Charlotte woman’s car parked in a rural area of North Port, authorities said.

The Chevy Spark belonging to 45-year-old Wendy Hanleck was discovered Wednesday just over the Charlotte County line in the woods off Serris Drive, North Port police shared on Facebook.

Search crews with the North Port Police Department, Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office and other agencies have been looking for the endangered woman since she was reported missing about a week ago.

Hanleck’s car was last seen June 20 on Hillsborough Avenue heading toward I-75, police said.

The investigation remains ongoing.
