Human Skull Found Off Cattlemen Road

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the discovery of human remains in a wooded area in the 100 block of Cattlemen Road.

According to the agency, workers with a private water company found a skull around 12:40 p.m. Wednesday and called 911. The workers were in the process of clearing a path to a well head when they came across the grisly discovery, an email to media from the sheriff’s office stated.

Forensics crews were on the scene as of Wednesday afternoon. It is unclear whether the remains are male or female or how old the person might be. The sheriff’s office doesn’t anticipate releasing any further details at this time.
