I-75 Traffic Enforcement Underway Through Tuesday Afternoon: FHP
FL Highway Patrol partnered with the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office, North Port police for traffic detail on I-75 in Sarasota, Manatee.
SARASOTA, FL — The Florida Highway Patrol is conducting a traffic enforcement detail on I-75 in Sarasota and Manatee counties Tuesday through 3:30 p.m.
The agency, which has partnered with the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office and the North Port Police Department on the initiative, hopes to raise traffic safety awareness and deter unsafe driving behaviors that contribute to crashes, FHP said in a news release.
FHP reminds drivers to move over to help keep first responders and service professionals safe.

To comply with the Move Over Law on a multi-lane roadway, drivers must:
- vacate the lane closest to the stationary emergency vehicle, sanitation vehicle, utility service vehicle, Road Ranger or wrecker, and always signal the intention to change lanes.
- slow down to a speed of 20 mph below the posted speed limit if a driver cannot move over safely.
- be prepared to allow those who are attempting to move over into the next lane.

To comply with this law when driving on a two-lane roadway, drivers must:
- slow down to a speed of 20 mph below the posted speed limit.
- Travel at 5 mph if the speed limit is 20 mph or less.
FHP also encourages the public to report aggressive drivers by dialing *FHP (*347).
