Injured Pelican Rescued From Tiki Roof Of Venice Restaurant: Officials
Wildlife volunteers worked with Venice police, firefighters to rescue an injured pelican from Dockside Grill's tiki roof Sunday.

VENICE, FL — An injured pelican was rescued Sunday afternoon from the tiki roof of Dockside Grill in Venice, first responders said.
Members of the Venice Police Department’s Marine Unit were dispatched to the restaurant to help the bird around 3:30 p.m., the agency wrote in a Facebook post.
Officers worked with Venice Fire Rescue and volunteers with the Venice Wildlife Refuge Center to safely rescue the pelican.

The bird was brought to the wildlife center for evaluation and medical care, police said.
