Inmate Dies Of Unknown Causes At Sarasota County Jail

SARASOTA COUNTY, FL – A 33-year-old inmate died Thursday night after being found unresponsive in his cell at the Sarasota County Jail and shortly before he was to be released, the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office said today.
Emergency services were contacted when Brandon Huskey was found Thursday just before midnight, and CPR attempts were unsuccessful, deputies said.
Huskey was arrested for Violation of Park Hours, a county ordinance, and booked into the facility on Thursday at 1:47 a.m. He was scheduled for release today, Friday, at 12:01 a.m., the department said.

The Medical Examiner’s Office is investigating Huskey's death, but officials said that "based on preliminary investigation, there were no prior reported or known incidences of violence, uses of force or other suspicious circumstances that would have contributed to his death."
"It appears the cause may be medical in nature however, as always, the official cause of death will be determined and released by the Medical Examiner’s Office," the Sheriff's Office said.
