Why should the last Saturday in April be important to you? Every year on the last Saturday in April we celebrate International Sculpture Day. Why do we celebrate sculptures you may be wondering? Why is this important? Celebrating International Sculpture Day gives praise to every artist who enjoys the fine art of aluminum, Stainless Steel, Brass, stone and wood. Many local art galleries will be celebrating and offering events to help spread the awareness of their artists.
One of Sarasotas newest Sculpture and Botanical Garden will be hosting an event. Peace River Sculpture and Botanical garden features multiple sculptures from worldwide artists such as Carole Feuerman, David Gonya, Jacob Kulin and Robert Richard. From aluminum to lava rock sculptures the garden features something for everyone, including a nature walk that overlooks the Peace River. Since opening in October 2017 the garden has already made plans to expand their facility. These plans include a childrens garden and interactive fountains, café, gift shop, nursery, fine arts museum/library, conservatory as well as a welcome center. You can visit their website for more information on upcoming events and information about their artists at http://peacerivergardens.org
