J.R. Simplot purchases Wauchula property for $2.1 million
The food and agriculture company is expanding its agricultural retail operations into Florida
J.R. Simplot, a family-owned, privately held global food and agriculture company, has purchased a 30,000-sqaure-foot industrial property on 15 acres in Wauchula for $2.1 million. The company recently announced the expansion of its agricultural retail operations into Florida and its plans to open Simplot Grower Solutions stores in Wauchula and Immokalee.
Jag Grewal, CCIM, of Ian Black Real Estate represented the seller, Ark Properties, LLC. Kevin Sanders of Hot Florida Real Estate represented the buyer. The property is located at 3437 State Road 64.
“Over the last several years, we’ve seen the demand for existing industrial buildings grow due to increased construction costs and extended timelines for government approvals,” said Grewal, partner at Ian Black Real Estate. “With a 30,000-square-foot structure already on the property, the buyer will be able to hit the ground running which was appealing. The city of Wauchula was also more than helpful in moving through approvals and permits.”

The property was constructed under an agricultural zoning and approved for Cannabis cultivation and processing. The initial property listing included 10.3 acres with an adjacent 5 acres of land available for purchase if needed. J.R. Simplot purchased both parcels of land.
J.R. Simplot has not announced when it will open the Simplot Grower Solutions store at this location. When opened, the retail store will offer a wide range of crop nutrition and crop protection products in addition to research-backed agronomic advice from local crop advisors.
