JFCS Kicks Off "Take a Look, Buy a Book" Book Drive

Donations through March 31 will provide hundreds of children with a new lease on reading life

JFCS is hosting its annual book drive, “Take a Look, Buy a Book,” Feb. 1 – March 31, 2019. Now in its third year, more than 7,200 books have been collected and distributed since the program’s inception, opening new chapters in thousands of children’s lives.

How to participate

Donations of new books for Pre-K to 5th grades (please no textbooks, encyclopedias and magazines) can be dropped off at any of the 10 public libraries in Sarasota County or at the JFCS office at 2688 Fruitville Road in Sarasota.

How it works

All donated books will be collected and distributed to clients participating in JFCS programs, including Building Strong Families, Healthy Families/Healthy Children, Healthy Families/Healthy Fathers, Veterans Services, Camp Mariposa, and school-based programs. Additional books will also be distributed to Sarasota and Manatee County police, local hospitals, Title 1 schools, and the Early Learning Coalition Bucket of Books program.
