Knight Trail Gun Range to Open Friday
The county commission voted unanimously on Oct. 25 to accept a letter of intent from the FWC stipulating that an agreement had been reached.

Sarasota County Parks and Recreation, working with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, (FWC) will , 3445 Rustic Road, Nokomis, at 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 28.
Sarasota County Parks and Recreation staff began working with the FWC earlier this year t that will place the pistol and rifle range under FWC management oversight, a move that satisfy state requirements.
The county commission stipulating that an agreement had been reached. FWC commissioners will meet in November to approve the partnership agreement. In the meantime, the Sarasota County attorney has advised the county commission that the FWC letter of intent satisfies state requirements.

“Customers of Knight Trail Park Pistol and Rifle Range will see very little change,” said Carolyn Brown, general manager, Sarasota County Parks and Recreation in a county press release. “We will continue to be one of the best publically owned ranges in the state with the same hours of operation, same prices and the same county staff.”
The hours of operation are Wednesday through Sunday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
