Il Panificio Could Be Razed to Make Way For Hotel, Restaurant Project

A mixed-use hotel project has been proposed for the gateway to downtown Sarasota at Main Street and Goodrich Avenue.

The 18-story project, which is being reviewed by the city’s Development Review Committee, calls for a 4,500-square-foot restaurant, 35 condos and 12 hotel rooms, according to Observer Media Group.

To make way for the project, three buildings at 1703 Main Street and 22 Goodrich Ave. will have to be demolished, including the Il Panificio restaurant and Italian market.

Linger Lodge Reopens in Bradenton

After closing in 2020 because of COVID-19, the Linger Lodge Restaurant reopened Friday.

“We are back,” the restaurant shared on its Facebook page, adding, “Come and join us for a delicious lunch, dinner or drink at the bar overlooking the beautiful Braden River…Reservations are highly recommended! We are looking forward to seeing y’all! We missed you!”

The restaurant is open Wednesday through Sunday, 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Coffee Shop Opens in Sarasota

A new coffee shop has opened in the space formerly occupied by Bodhi Tree Café, according to the Sarasota Herald-Tribune.

Baby Brie’s Café & Coffee House is open at 1938 Adams Lane in the Towles Court Art Center.
Prior to this, the owners, husband-and-wife team Cory and Sarah Kukral, owned Local Roots in Brooksville.

Parlor Doughnuts Opening in Venice

A national doughnut chain is opening a new location in Venice. According to the Parlor Doughnuts website, a new doughnut shop is coming to 1627 U.S. 41 Bypass South in the Jacaranda Plaza. The company is currently hiring for the new location.

Parlor Doughnuts is currently in 11 states including eight shops open and/or planned in Florida.

The chain’s website also teases to a location opening in Tampa/Sarasota but doesn’t offer an address.

The craft doughnut shop is known for its layered doughnuts, artisanal breakfast options and other unique bakery items. It also offers vegan, gluten-friendly and keto-friendly options.
