LWRCF Hosts Casino Royale Night on May 14

Proceeds will help reach $250,000 fundraising goal for 25th anniversary celebration

The Lakewood Ranch Community Foundation (LWRCF) is pleased to present the fundraiser Casino Royale Night, May 14 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Gold Coast Eagle Distributing, 7051 Wireless Court, in Lakewood Ranch. This James Bond-inspired event will feature casino games, an open bar, hors d'oeuvres, $500 in play money, and prizes for the two luckiest players. Founded in 2000, LWRCF’s mission is to enhance the quality of life in Lakewood Ranch communities by responding to needs, granting funds, and building lasting relationships. Over the past 25 years, LWRCF has awarded more than $1.53 million to 140 nonprofits doing impactful work in Lakewood Ranch.

In 2024, LWRCF established a disaster relief fund to assist nonprofit organizations following Hurricane Milton, and as part of its regular grant cycle, awarded grants to these and other nonprofits:

· Children’s Guardian Fund, funding 111 individualized tutoring sessions for five foster care children who live in Lakewood Ranch

· Mark Wandall Foundation, sending four children to the Comfort Zone Camp for children ages 7-17 who have experienced the death of a parent or guardian

· Sea of Strengths, funding the construction of a playground for a new private, independent special education school located in Lakewood Ranch which is a serving 31 students in grades two through nine

· Florida Cancer Specialists Foundation, funding non-medical financial aid for one year for one cancer patient living in Lakewood Ranch who was in dire need of help to cover essential living expenses to avoid eviction and repossession of their critical transportation

· Feeding Empty Little Tummies, providing 946 weekend backpacks of food for children during the school year. Feeding Empty Little Tummies also received a disaster relief grant which covered the majority of their deductible for their lost roof from Hurricane Milton.
