Major Security Changes at SRQ Airport Since 9/11

The CEO of the Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport talks about the changes that have been made in security since 9/11.

Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport CEO Rick Piccolo says the flying public is safer now than prior to Sept. 11, 2001. He says the security regime at SRQ is far more thorough than it used to be.

Before 9/11, Piccolo said, screening at airport was a minor inconvenience. Today, he says, passengers view it as much more of a hassle, "because it's more thorough."

During the 10 years since 9/11, Piccolo said SRQ Airport has spent more than $15 million for security and has seen many changes. Before 9/11 there were only two security lanes compared to six now.
