Man Dies After Driving Into Drainage Ditch: FHP

A 65-year-old man died after driving his pick-up truck into a drainage ditch Thursday night in Bradenton, Florida Highway Patrol said.

BRADENTON, FL — A 65-year-old Bradenton man died after driving his pick-up truck into a drainage ditch Sunday night, Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.

As he drove out of the Cortez Village Plaza parking lot around 11:30 p.m., he traveled across State Road 684 and entered the road’s south shoulder near 66th Street W.

Then, he drove the truck down an embankment into a drainage ditch, FHP said.

Troopers said the driver wasn’t wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
