Man Dies In Sarasota Crash After ‘Medical Event’: FL Highway Patrol
A man died after crossing the median on Bee Ridge Road and driving his truck into an SUV Sunday morning, Florida Highway Patrol said.
SARASOTA, FL — A man died in a Sarasota crash Sunday morning after experiencing a “medical event” while behind the wheel of a pick-up truck, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.
The truck, driven by a 53-year-old Sarasota man, was traveling west on Bee Ridge Road in the left travel lane approaching the intersection of Honore Avenue just before 8 a.m.
An SUV, driven by a 40-year-old Port Charlotte woman, was heading east on Bee Ridge Road in the right travel lane approaching the intersection at the same time, FHP said.

The truck entered the center median and traveled southwest into the eastbound travel lane, hitting the left side of the SUV.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene by Sarasota County EMS, FHP said.

The woman suffered minor injuries.
