Man Drowns Trying to Get a Child's Toy Boat
The 67-year-old was overpowered by the current in the Intracoastal Waterway.

The body of a 67-year-old man has been recovered in waters near the Albee Farm Road bridge, according to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office.
While details are still murky, the search for the man began Wednesday afternoon after he was swept away by the current near the bridge about 100 yards south of marker 9 in the Intracoastal Waterway, according to Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Wendy Rose.
The search involved members of the county’s Marine Patrol, Underwater Recovery Force, Lifeguard Operations and the Venice police and fire departments.

The man’s name is not being released at this time. His body was recovered just after 4 p.m.
